dying grey hairs without chemicals?

I've had a few grey hairs for a while but having been getting more lately. I'm still young and am sick of heaps of different people embarrassing me by making a big deal about my grey hairs all the time. I guess its time to look into hair dye options although I hate having to fuss over my appearance and I hate the idea of applying chemicals to my ( Read more... )

Pretty much everything you apply to your hair or your body and everything you consume is a chemical.

As for your question about Lush Caca products, I love them but I, like most people, get only temporary results because of the other botanical moisturizers and additives in the block. So it might be a good way for you to experiment with how your particular hair responds to henna, but if you want permanent results, you'll probably end up wanting to buy actual henna.

lush's henna is crap. really. if you are thinking about henna, check out the henna info in the long hair community. there is a ton of info on it. but i am biased. i can not stand the stuff they add to their henna.

Seconded. I say go for Mehandi.com products and read up first at hennaforhair.com

That's the best around. It is worth both the time to inform yourself via the site and the expense for the henna, without a doubt.

thank you. my brain is broken from a really long day yesterday(saturday) and only 5 hours of sleep today. i love hennforhair.com and covered grays very well with it. now i am growing out my gray since it is a beautiful silver and silver curls rock, so no more henna for me!

I'm growing mine out, too and hoping for more silver. Mine is only beginning. You're very lucky. I can't wait until mine goes full silver. Congratulations on yours!

I just did caca brun today for the first time, and it was fun! Feels nice. The greys are mildly covered, I would assume it will take another treatment to get them really going. I also read doing the red caca first, then brun over it, also helps a lot, since the greys take the red more easily, then henna again.

I use Lush Caca Rouge and LOVE it. I only dye my hair slghtly more then once a year with it. The color lasts forever in my opinion and tkae at least 6=9 months to fade. I use half the bar on my fine waist length straight hair. So for less then $20 a year I have gorgeous silky(side effect of the henna) auburn hair.

I also use Lush Caca Rouge and love it. Like mycologynerd said, it takes a long time to fade. In the US the bar is around $23 I believe, and since I use half a bar at a time (I have really thick, massive hair, so I need a lot of henna) it's not too expensive for me. Using the brun might be a good way to ease yourself into coloring your hair, even if you want to look into different types of henna later.

And by the way, what a bunch of rude people for pointing out your grey hairs! Just tell them it means you're wiser than they are. ;)
