Cleaning Animal Pelts
I have a full size sheepskin that I normally put over a trunk. The hair is long (3-5") and looks real grimy because of dust. I know better than to put it in a washing machine and was told that even hand washing could damage and/or matt the fibers. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could clean it up? This is not a commercial tanning, I bought this at farmer's market from a lady that raises sheep for meat. The back is tanned, but I'm not sure what method was used and I cannot find the person's contact information.
