I've been watching this community for a few weeks now, and have already learned quite a bit just from the more recent entries. I'm hoping to scroll back at some time and read some of the older posts as well. I have a 10-month-old son, and my interest in trying to live more naturally and environmentally responsible came about when I was pregnant. After years of living my life without really putting much thought on how my actions truly affected my health & our environment, knowing that I was bringing this little person into the world completely changed my perspective. I'm trying not to overwhelm myself (or my husband, who is a bit surprised by my new outlook, to say the least!) so I've been making changes gradually.
Here's a few questions:
I want to switch to a shampoo bar, and after poking around online I found this company:
Prairieland Herbs. Has anyone here used their products before, specifically the shampoo bars? Would you recommend them? I have hair that tends to get greasy if I go two days w/out shampooing, yet also deal sporadically w/ dry scalp. Any recommendations? And the vinegar rinse that they sell...is that worth getting? I read that your hair can seem kind of "funky" for the first week or so as the residue from commercial shampoos is stripped from your hair.
If you're on a limited budget, which foods would you absolutely buy organic? Grocery money's tight right now, but I still want to make the best decisions for our health.
I had a few other questions...but can't for the life of me remember what they were! Gotta love the effects of sleep deprivation.
