Tattoo reaction?
Hello all. I got a tattoo November 2007, and it is soooo freakin itchy. It gets raised, but not always in the same spot. I do have 3 other tats, no problems with those, and the same color was used in another one. I can go a couple of weeks with no problems, but it looks like the tattoo is kind of drying out on the days it doesn't itch, which you think would be the opposite.
Last year I had to wear a medical boot for several months, about 4months after I got the tattoo (the tattoo is on my ankle), and so I figured that was why it was causing me problems before, maybe the rubbing of the boot. I haven't wore the boot since May, so I guess that wasn't it. I don't really know if it's a heat related thing or not, it has been pretty hot lately, and it does seem to bother me if I take a super hot shower. When the tat isn't raised, it doesn't cause me problems. It seems like it will be bad for a couple of weeks, then be ok for a week. Is it a stretch to think it could be hormonal? I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced a tattoo reaction, or something similiar, and what you did for it. It's not so bad that I would want to see a doc, just uncomfy at times due to the itching. I put Vit E oil on it, and a chamomile tea tree lotion, which helps a bit with the itch, but nothing helps the bumpies.
I didn't realize there was a tattoo community on here, I just thought someone who also experienced it would be able to recommend maybe something natural to help with the itching. I have looked over at the tat community, thanks!
