I've been pretty puzzled by a rash my son has had off and on for a couple of months now. It's only on the top of his forearm and the backs of his lower legs. It's mild for the most part. It has a pimply, raised look to it but not read at all and not at all itchy- it never bothers him. It gets a little inflamed with a quick bath (generally don't use ( Read more... )

It could be a mild form of eczema. My daughter has it a few times a year. Oatmeal baths help.

What about Keratosis Pilaris? My middle child and I both have this and it is like what you describe. For us the best we can do is keep it as moisturized as possible...it gets much worse when our skin is dry.

It looks VERY similar to this- maybe a mild form of it- no redness but definately the raised whiteish bumps. Do you find any lotion works better for you guys? It seems an oatmeal based one is working a little better than the others for my son. For flareups does anything else work for you-oatmeal baths, etc? I don't want to waste my time with stuff that won't do any good. Thank you for this info! I had never heard of it, but will definately mention it to the pediatrician.

I am still trying to figure out what works best. For me, gentle exfoliation and coconut oil. But my son's is worse and we are still working on it. I have heard people say lotions with tee tree oil work wonders for it, but we have a severe allergy to that in our family, so we have never tried it. But whatever you use, apply multiple times a day to keep the area moisturized. Mine almost completely fades when I am vigilant about it.
