If Kiku thought he was escaping at least a minor celebration he had another think coming. Grinning, he all but burst through the door, immediately starting in on (a rather subdued, it was almost naptime) version of 'Happy Birthday To You'.
"Look, I brought cake!" he laughed as he set it down on the table by his friend's lunchbox.

She saw that someone was already there, and...that one person she met a while back...Feliciano? was sneaking up on them. She followed them into the room and lightly patted Feliciano on the shoulder.
"Hey! It's nice to see you again," she said. She looked over at what he had just put down. "What's the occasion?" She pointed at the cake.

"Ah! Don't sing it so loud! Eeeh..." He looked around shyly, flailing his arms some. "F-Feliciano. What are you doing here-- Cake? Y-You got me a cake? You really didn't have to!" The 29-year old male blushed a bit harder, and this was only intensified as the female from upstairs joined in on the conversation.
"T-There is no occasion! Nothing important is going on at all, I assure you."

"L-Ludwig... Ah, I am sorry I am eating lunch so late-- I was swamped with phone calls," as usual, Kiku mistook his German friends words and apologized for himself, often forgetting his own position as a director. "Forgive my tardiness." He appreciated the nod greeting that had been established between them, it was simple, calm, and held a wordless deep meaning.
He nodded a bit harder in Ludwig's direction, obviously happy to see him despite his fumbling and panicked expression.

Really, it was 90% wanting to celebrate Kiku's birthday with him- it was what friends did, right? And Kiku was one of his best friends, after all! But that last 10% was him reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally not wanting to do the last of that paperwork before time for siesta. It was so boring. He'd much rather be partying with Kiku and Ludwig and everyone.

His attention turned to Feliciano as the Italian spoke to him, and a disapproving frown settled over his features. "You're not getting paid to eat, Feliciano, and that's exactly what will happen in..." He paused and checked his watch. "...six and a half minutes. If you want to celebrate wait until after work hours are over."

"Perhaps after work is better... We can meet here and eat the cake, then I will head home. We don't need to celebrate something as mundane as my birthday." He blushed slightly and nodded his head, figuring he didn't want to be more of a sap on anyone's time than he already was.

As Feliciano seemed to decide a party after work was in store, the German couldn't help but feel it was partly his 'fault' for suggesting it. He stepped aside to let Feliciano leave and entered the room a bit further, tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket.
"I'll make sure it's just Feliciano," he said quietly, knowing how his friend was about as fond as parties as he was. "And I'll keep it quick. Gott knows we all have work tomorrow, and knowing him he'll try to keep you up all night."

"So it's a birthday?" she threw out into the room from what she had gathered. "That's great! Happy birthday to you!" she said to the man who was there first. She had seen him around and recognized him, but never really had the chance to talk to him. "I hope you have a wonderful day, and, Director Beilschmidt, I'll get right back to work when I'm done eating!"
She was quite confident in her abilities of speed-eating, after all.

"A-Ah, we will meet in my office after my conference call. It should be done at 4:30-- is what I have heard, anyway. I will return to the office as soon as my lunch has been finished, so in the mean while, make sure order is kept around the office. Do not hesitate to come and get me if problems arrise." His mind then went to the woman to his left, turning to greet her calmly.
"Ah, thank you, Ma'am. I hope you too have a wonderful day," he said as he bowed his head in her direction, watching her run off to eat like Kobayashi (See: Hotdog competition god). Truth be told, Kiku was very good at public relations, but that was when he was Director Honda. When he was Kiku, he was like a ( ... )

Glancing back at Kiku, he frowned a bit as his friend reminded him of the fact that, out of the office, they had all rarely seen one another. There had been a dinner with Feliciano to catch up, but that was one time among many. He knew it was important to keep up social connections, but it was something he had always had to force himself to do.
"It has been busy. Not that that's a bad thing, of course." He was quiet for a moment, averting his eyes as he attempted to be something more than a workmate. "It has been...a while since we've...done anything not work-related. I...suppose it will be...nice. To take a break from the professional atmosphere."
