Oh now, you really didn't think he'd pass this up, right? pastaitalia February 12 2010, 01:55:47 UTC
Sneaky sneaky... Okay, so Feliciano didn't do sneaky well. Especially when he was humming something quietly and carrying a small cake with only a few candles (all that would fit comfortably were five), lighter in his pocket.

If Kiku thought he was escaping at least a minor celebration he had another think coming. Grinning, he all but burst through the door, immediately starting in on (a rather subdued, it was almost naptime) version of 'Happy Birthday To You'.

"Look, I brought cake!" he laughed as he set it down on the table by his friend's lunchbox.

Isabella carried a paper bag containing a sandwich she had just bought at one of the local stores up the stairs. It was break. Finally! She had no problems with working long hours, but she needed to eat--especially since she tended to forget that this breakfast thing existed. She wasn't sure how much time she had left so she figured she would eat in the building--but not at her desk. That's what the break room was for.

She saw that someone was already there, and...that one person she met a while back...Feliciano? was sneaking up on them. She followed them into the room and lightly patted Feliciano on the shoulder.

"Hey! It's nice to see you again," she said. She looked over at what he had just put down. "What's the occasion?" She pointed at the cake.

Kiku practically jumped from his seat as people emerged in the break room. Apparently he wasn't the only one taking a late lunch today. He turned his head to look at Feliciano, his cheeks turning slightly pink as he locked eyes with the Italian male who was singing for him.

"Ah! Don't sing it so loud! Eeeh..." He looked around shyly, flailing his arms some. "F-Feliciano. What are you doing here-- Cake? Y-You got me a cake? You really didn't have to!" The 29-year old male blushed a bit harder, and this was only intensified as the female from upstairs joined in on the conversation.

"T-There is no occasion! Nothing important is going on at all, I assure you."

Ludwig had known about Kiku's birthday for a few weeks now. He had marked it in his daily planner the year he had first found out, and always made a point to wish the older man a happy birthday or give him something small in celebration. After lunch he had headed to his office but, finding it empty, decided to back track to the break room ( ... )

Nick strode into the room carrying a paper bag with his prized Four'n'Twenty meat pie (his only real sustenance for the day).

As he passed the doors, an Italian that Nick was sure he'd seen before walked by melodically singing 'Happy Birthday', a song which Nick found difficult to sing well in anyone's case.

He turned, curious, only to see that Director Honda was the recipient of the greeting. Nick smiled and turned his travelling path over to Kiku.

"Happy birthday, mate! I dun know it was today!"

Kiku blinked and rubbed his neck shyly, his eyes fixed on the cake in front of him for a moment before looking up as a new voice entered the air around him. He recognized it and looked up expectantly.

"A-Ah, yes. It is my 29th birthday. But it's not a very important affair. H-How have you been? It has been a while."

Nick's eye seemed to twitch.

"Y-ya birthday. Ya dun say..."

He appeared defeated. He'd 'forgotten' Director Honda's birthday and even though he had just met the Japanese man, he couldn't help but feel slightly...bad for not bringing something to help celebrate the moment. But his mood seemed to rebound and he grinned once again.

"Wow, twenty nine! Ya really got some experience under ya belt, eh?"

Nick winked. The insulting humor was just his way of showing affection, but the Australian never understood that his comments wouldn't always be taken as jokes. He was too used to speaking with Aiden and his own group of comrades.

He blinked hard and laughed nervously as he was teased about his age, having been feeling a bit conscious about his age as he sat amongst tons of youngsters who seemed to have boundless energy and that all important gung-ho spirit.

"Y-Yes, I suppose that is so. I have been in many different sectors in life. though, if you had to ask me, that Korean man over there is older." He said it as if trying to deflect an award of being the oldest man in the company.

Mỹ Linh hopped in the breakroom with her mind full of good intentions. She made some rice cake in advance for the Lunar New year and so decided to spare one for a certain Director. She can, might as well, boast about her rice cakes and how they are the absolute best in the world (in her mind)! Not only did she wrap up the cake in red gift-wrap with a neat white bow, but she also put in a sweet greeting card inside. “Oh,” she blinked after hearing a tune in the air. Ah, other people remembered too!

She placed the gift on the table and merely smiled. “Happy Birthday Director Honda.” She would’ve said his name, Kiku, but supposed that it would be too rude.

Kiku looked up with a bit of shock, quite surprised to see My Linh offering him a gift. He smiled softly and tilted his head some to the side before speaking.

"A-Ah, Ms. Le. You really did not have to bring me anything at all-- really, it is fine." He inspected the package for a moment, puzzling what was inside but in true Japanese fashion, unless he was asked to open the gift, he would refrain until he returned home. He started to wonder where his good stationary was-- he had a lot of lank you cards to write.

Mỹ Linh chuckled and then beamed at him. "Well it's almost the New Year! We're supposed to give, yes? But it's not only that, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday." She cheekily placed a hand over the other behind her back.

"And you don't have you call me that. Mỹ Linh, or just Linh, is fine."

He smiled some and looked up at her with a bright gaze, feeling a bit honored to be able to address her suddenly so casually.

"Ms. Linh, then. How are things going in your department? I feel like I haven't spoken to you in quite sometime. Who do you work under, again? Mr. Bonnefoy?" He just assumed...

Yong-soo had remembered Kiku's birthday, yes. They hadn't exchanged presents in such a long time though- He had been pondering what to get his recently reacquainted brother and it had taken him a while to figure out just the right thing. For the time being, he wrote "Happy Birthday" using icing on some an-pan, put them back into their pink bakery box and took it to work. After the... incident with the- ahem, action figure, he figured that he'd be kind for once. Sort of.

He pounced on Kiku from behind. "Happy birthday!" he bellowed. "Twenty-nine already?"

Kiku, having been preoccupied with worrying about his friend's plans for the night, barely noticed his chair slipping backwards in slow motion as he was pounced by the over-zealous Korean, taking his firmly placed buttocks with him as he slipped backwards and fell hard into Yong-Soo, using him as some sort of landing pad. He let out a loud yelping noise and sucked in a hard gasp before settling himself in the safety of Yong-Soo's embrace.

"Ueeh! Y-y-y-Yong-Soo! Y-You scared me!" He said with a heated blush on his cheeks. Slowly he regathered himself and coughed slightly, so as if to clear the air. "A-Ah... Yes. Twenty-nine. I am just one step closer to deaths door."

Yong-soo caught the other man way too easily. "Jeez, Kiku, every time I see you, I think you're getting lighter and lighter!" He was laughing still and the pink bakery box in his hand was still neatly balanced, Poised even. You could always say that Yong-soo did have style. A weird one, but style, nonetheless.

He set the box in front of the Japanese man. "Happy birthday. I know you're an old man. But twenty nine isn't that old. I'm already that old and I'm not anywhere near death's door." He gave a playful noogie. Already he'd taken so many liberties. Never mind that Kiku was Director and all...

Gupta had read the company personnel records. It was part of his job to know the important dates, including those of his companies superiors. He took a nervous breath and entered the break room. Yes, he had to at least try.

Fingering the card nervously, he entered the break room. Seeing all the people, he blushed.

"Oh, ah. Hello Director Honda. Please accept this card as token of appreciation."

Kiku, being in charge of their companies relations found it important to know the names of the new employees, just in case he has to save their butts somewhere down the line. He looked up as Gupta approached him and smiled softly.

"Hello, Mr. Hassan. And, oh, my. You did not need to bring me anything... Thank you." He took the card and set it down politely before speaking again. "So, how has work been so far?"

"Ah...I was hoping to present it to you privately, but.." he trailed off slowly. "You are most welcome Director Honda" he replied politely. So far, so good. Just be polite and personable. Form connections, network.

"I am settling quite nicely. I hope to start work on some heavier projects after my orientation is complete. May I ask how are you faring?"

He nods lightly, happy to hear how well things were going for their newest employee.

"The new OS came out with a bit more bugs than I would have liked so I have to field a fair amount of press, but other than that, I am fine."
