Yao moved his hands to intertwine beneath his chin, and kept his gaze on Yong-Soo as he poured the tea and smiled, "Thank you." Yao was surprised when Yong-soo so casually threw in the suggestion of their dinner choice, having been focused on the topic at hand, but recovered quickly with a smile.

"Ah, yes dim sum sounds like the best choice, aru." With that he disregarded his menu and sat back after taking a sip of the tea Yong-soo had just poured, tilting his head as he listened to the other talk with interest. He noticed his brother fiddle with the tassels on the menu and moved his gaze to watch Yong-soo's expression.

"Locked in your office, aru?" He grinned, "And you have time to take note of a girl and tease an Italian," he chuckled good-naturedly, "Juggling work and play isn't easy, I'm impressed, aru." And he was, even though Yong-soo seemed to be admitting to having "no social life," or something along those lines, not very many people who worked as much as they did could manage keeping up such relationships. Many could become completely engulfed in their job, his own boss being a good example of that. The thought of Ivan caused him to furrow his brow briefly and look off to the side, but he shook his head and looked back at Yong-soo.

"I have not had the pleasure of getting to know Director Jones all that well, but... he seems like an interesting person, aru." He grinned, "I take it you have fun working for him?"

Yong-soo remained leaning back easily, looking a little less professional now. Though they were barely separated in age by a year, the impressions of maturity that both offered were vastly different, even though Yao had the ageless face that only Asians could really manage. Yong-soo loosened his tie just a little around his neck, the revealing the glint of a gold chain around his neck.

"Well, it's not as though someone put a gun to my head and told me to work," he replied jovially. "Said cute girl from Internal Affairs I had to talk to because I was requesting a file from her. All work, I swear. And the Italian... I ran into while working out downstairs. All complete coincidences." He winked. "You know I tend to just run into people." That was how he had met Yao so many years ago, after all, literally bowling into the Chinese during the first week of school in the usual flurry of chaos he called walking around.

"Depending on 'fun,'" Yong-soo said with a careless shrug. "I haven't seen him around very much lately. But then again, what I've been working on keeps me in my own desk." He took a sip of tea carefully as the waitress came around again to get their orders. As he was the one buying, he ordered for them and it was evident why he favored this restaurant as the first round bamboo baskets came around in almost record time. He opened one of them, finding chicken feet.

"Yes, you do run into people rather easily, don't you?" Yao said a little dryly, while maintaining a small smile on his face, then laughed. He looked down in interest at the chicken feet, then took a small sip of his tea before helping himself, taking it upon himself to start the first half of the meal and indicating Yong-soo do the same.

"What exactly is it that you've been working on, aru?"

"It's my default method and circumstance," Yong-soo replied with a laugh of his own. "And I can't say it's never a bad thing." He helped himself to dumplings with a very healthy appetite.

"Database work," he replied after swallowing shrimp. "They've been needing to update their system so it's easier to pull up information." He made a slight face as he selected fried wontons. "And I've been finding some less than honest behavior on the part of my predecessor."

ORZ, late reply D8 (and badly written post XD) pandaru_yao June 6 2009, 14:50:48 UTC
Yao listened to Yong-Soo talk about his work with a blank, uncomprehending expression. Database work and the updating of systems were subjects he knew of, like knowing that somewhere there was a man named John Smith, but not knowing a thing about him. "...I'm going to pretend that I understand what you're talking about, aru." He said laughingly after a few moments.

Chuckling, he selected a dumpling. "'Less than honest behavior'?" He continued curiously and smiled, looking up at Yong-soo from his plate, "how do you mean?"

Yong-soo swallowed a mouthful of crispy fried dumpling, pouring himself some more soy sauce too. He tilted his head, confused, when to his own mind he had been perfectly simple and clear... "It's just a way to organize receipts and other documents," he replied. "So it's easy to pull up old records before ordering things, for example."

Yong-soo actually grimaced. "Skimming off the books," he replied just a little sourly. "The guy I was hired to replace was definitely doing it." He finished the crispy dumpling he had bitten into.

Yao nodded a little at Yong-soo's explanation of his work, absorbing the simplified version gratefully. He wasn't necessarily embarrassed that he knew so little about computers, it was just a bit of an inconvenience to him, living in this technology-driven world. So, he considered himself lucky that his brother was so good at it, though he would never outwardly say just how much he relied on Yong-soo's knowledge.

He blinked at the grimace before returning his attention to his own meal for a moment then frowned in confusion, yet again, "...'Skimming of the books'?"

Yong-soo had been a TA too, during his last quarter. Simplifying things had been a major part of it. He just forgot himself from time to time. Technology was integral for him, for all that he grew up as a farm boy in the country side (while his grandparents didn't technically run the farm, they still had the land and raised chickens and such as well). He was always the sort to look forward.

Yong-soo selected a steamed shrimp. Before biting into it, he clarified, "Embezzlement, Yao-hyung."

"Ah! Fraud?" He blinked a couple times at Yong-soo, and then looked down at the food contemplatively. He paused, not sure if he could eat anything at that moment, not because the food was bad, it was delicious... he just needed a break. Swallowing, he smiled at Yong-soo.

"Ah, sorry, would you excuse me a moment?" He asked, getting up and putting a hand in his pocket momentarily to make sure what he needed was there.

The Korean man polished off the shrimp, which he had doused in unholy amounts of mustard. He dabbed at the corner of his mouth with a napkin and nodded. "Yeah. But he's long gone by now, probably. Still, I'll have to get a report in sooner or later."

He blinked. "Sure!" His eyes did not miss the movement to a pocket, a furtive movement. Something was niggling at the back of his brain, some distant memory that he was not sure he wanted to quite remember, even after over a decade. Memory always did that to you. He sipped at his cup of jasmine oolong carefully, burning his lips slightly on the piping hot brew.

TAT sorry, so late. I had trouble with this >.> pandaru_yao August 1 2009, 03:59:27 UTC
Yao smiled and nodded once, then found his way to the bathrooms in the back of the restaurant with relative ease. He pushed open the door, casually checking to see if anyone was lined up at the urinals, then made his way inside.

It was a nice bathroom considering it was public, though there was a suspicious-looking stain in the bottom left corner of the mirror he was trying to ignore. He looked down, focusing on pulling the pill bottle out of his pocket, twisting the cap off and setting it down on the black linoleum counter.

The pills rattled loudly in the empty bathroom as he bumped the bottle against the heel of his palm to bump one out, then popped it back and swallowed...then adjusted his ponytail absentmindedly. Feeling a bit calmer, he finished fixing his appearance and walked out of the restroom.

Making his way back to the table was a little more difficult than leaving it, as a party of twelve was trying to be seated. Yao finally got back, and pulled his chair back with a light smile. "Sorry about that," he sat down at the table and folded his hands in front of him.

Nah, we can wrap this up pretty soon, no? dae_han August 2 2009, 18:33:59 UTC
Yong-soo was toying with his plate and studying his iPhone as Yao arrived. He looked up and put the gadget away once his dining companion had returned. "No trouble at all," he replied almost automatically. At this point he had forgotten what little, troublesome thought that had started drifting through his mind and worrying him subconsciously. Still... those sorts of thoughts had a way of being seemingly forgotten, and continuing to worm their way through the brain.

He picked up one of the last baskets that had come around, opening to find sweet sesame rolls. "How has Nation Corp been treating you by the way, Yao-hyung?" he asked.

Yao paused a moment as he was sitting down. For some reason he hadn't expected that question from Yong-soo. Odd, considering it was such a simple one: a generic inquiry that people asked strangers when they had nothing to talk about... or in their case: estranged brothers old friends. But despite his initial shock at seeing Yong-soo at the Advertising secretary's desk, Yao felt a tiny bit younger after spending this time with him. Almost like no time had passed at all. Though this very moment was definitely a solid reminder of just how much they had to catch up on.

As he sat down, he gave Yong-soo a smile, "It's the best job I have had since college." He took a sip of water.
