Hey Everyone! I'm kind of new to the military so bear with me. I just spoke to a recruiter for the first time a few days ago and I've been trying to do some research but I still have a lot of questions. I auditioned for an Air National Guard band and got accepted. Is there anyone in this community who is in a band? The recruiter didn't seem to know as much about being a musician as other jobs... Anyway, i'm wondering what boot camp was like for those of you who have been through it. Also, about deployment...does the national guard usually just have to do things like clean up after hurricane katrina or do you ever get sent into combat? I've heard bands are usually the last units to be sent but the reason i'd be joining is to perform with a good ensemble, education benefits, etc. and I'm still not sure if the military is for me. I'd appreciate any advice or information you guys can give me! Thanks!
