So, our first few days have been spent running around like crazy. It's been fun, though we haven't had many breaks and most people just fall asleep at like 10:30. We started in Lima and did most of whatever for a day. I saw X Men 3 in Spanish. I mean, it was dubbed into Spanish. I think I understood most all of it though. It was fun. We had to leave the hotel we were at at 2:30 AM the next day though to get to the airport to fly to Cusco in the morning. Planes can't fly into Cusco after 11 in the morning because of weather/altitude problems. The flight I was supposed to be on got cancelled and so instead of leaving at like 5 in the morning, I left at 7 in the morning. It was rather sucky. We made it all right; there were only seven of us that ended up on the 7 AM flight. We dropped bags in Cusco and headed to Urubamba Valley which is at a lower altitude so we could aclimatize better. There we visited Pisac ruins, Semanario Ceramics, Ollantaytambo, some salt mines, Moray, and Chinchero. That was over a couple of days. Now I'm back in Cusco.
Saturday we start the Inka trail to Macchu Picchu, which I'm excited about and worried that I'm going to die on. I guess we'll see. I'd like to do it all myself, but I don't know how feasible it is that I'll be able to make the second, steepest, day carrying my pack. There's so many girls that I don't see how they think they're going to be able to make it backpacking and camping. They've complained about every hike we've done. It's rediculous. Some haven't even bothered hiking because it's too hard... Yeah. Well, I don't mind if they die on the hike. They're mostly the annoying ones anyway.
I have pictures, but I can't seem to ftp them because the computer won't play nice. Maybe later I'll work on that, but not now, I have to go soon. I hope everyone is doing fun stuff!
