This song is dedicated to Candy Darling, a famous Warhol-superstar. She was born as James Lawrence Slattery, but as her mother said: "I knew then... that I couldn't stop Jimmy. Candy was just too beautiful and talented." Candy was growning up in a violent alcoholic's family in Massapequa Park, Long Island, spending her time watching US television and old Hollywood movies, from which she learned to impersonate her favorite actresses, such as Joan Bennett and Kim Novak.
