I talked to everyone I needed to talk to about my year abroad next year and the head of the American Studies department and her assistant professor are going to nominate me to go to Yale.
I'll just let the awesomeness of that sink in for a second because I still can't believe it. It's no 100% guarantee that I'll be sent there (there are only one or two spots every year) but I've been told that if the head of American Studies nominates you, then the odds are very, very good. I'm still amazed and excited and I need to go sit down and write my study proposal for the DAAD scholarship (that is independent from the nomination for Yale).
Option #2 is Rutgers which would be amazing as well.
