Ohmygosh. Thanks to IMDB.com for the heads up on Brendan Fraser's project, titled in my cut. Or, not-so-titled.

The director is responsible for October Sky, Jumanji and the Pagemaster
The writers [ 1 (director of the first two Mummy films), 2 & 3 ] are responsible for Spider-Man 2, The Mummy, and the Mummy Returns
Downs ::
Freddie Boath - boo!
The director is responsible for Jurassic Park III and IV
The writers are responsible for Shanghai Noon, Shanghai Knights, Herbie Fully Loaded, The Scorpion King and *shudder* Van Helsing
So, lots to think about, for us Mummy fans. Could be great, could be awful. The Mummy!verse is so open ended and chaotic, anything could happen. But at least there are a lot of adventure films under the belts of the creators (be they good or bad).
Cheers to Bredan, who has seemed to sign after the cast of the first two all agree not to do a third (thusly, we got 'Scorpion King').
We just need Oded Fehr, John Hannah and Rachel Weisz back. Oh, and the Mummy (Arnold Vosloo) maybe, but he's come back from the dead enough.
