Summary: Alfred's just happy to see Arthur after wanting to spend so much time with him.

“Arthur!”

Alfred waved about his arms in a flailing manner, his already bright blue eyes shining even more as the older blond made his way to the bench where he sat. When he was around a foot away from him, Alfred could contain himself no longer. Alfred half-ran, half-charged at him, tackling him as he latched his arms around his neck, burying his too-happy face into his shoulder.

Albeit his surprise, Arthur smiled as Alfred pulled back slightly, the other’s excitement seemingly wearing off and settling. He wasn’t expecting such an enthusiastic greeting from him, but then again this was Alfred, so it made sense. Somehow.

“I missed you! I mean, I just saw you a while ago, and I see you every day, but, you know - I just, there’s just, I-“

“-I know.” Arthur cuts in. He’s noted that Alfred is ridiculously restless around him, and lets his mouth run until all the words that leave him are nothing but unintelligible gibberish, so he does have to cut in every now and then. It’s for Alfred’s own good, after all.

It shuts Alfred up for a while, and Arthur just knows what comes next.

Alfred grabs a hold of Arthur’s arm and asks them if they could walk around. Just to talk. Just to spend some time with each other. Time that they didn’t always have. Arthur nods in agreement, reminding himself that he had to leave to finish other work he had to do, but Alfred needs this. Alfred needs him.

So they walk, and converse along the way. They round the field and outer halls, talking about little things, insignificant things - work, school, things that need to be done, things they want to do, - knuckles bumping against each other until Arthur wraps a finger around Alfred’s and their hands completely intertwine for a few moments before untangling.

They talk until Alfred asks what time Arthur’s supposed to leave. He watches Arthur check his watch and, really, Alfred didn’t even need to ask in the first place. He knew that Arthur had to leave soon.

With a small smile, Alfred bids Arthur goodbye, thanks him for his company, whispers an ‘I love you’ unheard to anyone but Arthur. The latter returns the gesture with the same intonation and sincerity, and briskly walks off to his duties, leaving Alfred to stare after his retreating figure.

The time they spent together, no matter how short, was all Alfred needed. It was having that time to spend with Arthur which he so constantly longed for.

A/N: Not exactly the way I wanted it to turn out. ; n; It doesn't seem too bad though.
