Summary: Arthur doesn't look very happy, so Alfred tries to cheer him up by presenting to him a small, green animal by the pond.

"Alfred, put the turtle back."

The small reptile was attempting a struggle, small feet kicking and waving to get out of its captor's grasp, until finally stopping and poking its head out in defeat. The sight in front of him was that of a green-eyed blond by the name of Arthur Kirkland, whose eyebrows were - his most defining feature, - scrunched up in mild irritation at having the small animal shoved to his face.

He looked past the turtle and instead at its captor, a bright eyed Alfred Jones, who had the poor creature clasped in both hands.

"Look, Arthur! It's kicking," He let out a rather childish chuckle, inching the turtle closer to the other boy's face. Arthur rolled his eyes. Of course, he already expected such a mature reaction from Alfred. He was one of the only people Arthur knew to be easily amused by such things.

"Alfred, put it back. You might hurt it."

The pout that followed was also expected. "But Artie," Alfred whined. "This is fun." Again with the nickname. Alfred was just becoming more frustrating by the minute - the fact that his lower lip shook slightly and his eyes looked as if they grew two sizes larger - didn't help much either.

"Alfred, that is not fun - that is animal cruelty, which you told me that you detested. And I thought I told you no pet names." And then Arthur gave him a hard stare, which he was sure would do his bidding. Alfred wouldn't oppose him because he knew that look too well - that look meant business.

Sighing in defeat, Alfred turned to set the reptile back onto its perch on a large boulder in the pond. Upon returning the creature to its natural habitat, he turned back to Arthur, a look of concern etched on his features.

"I was just trying to help, you know. You look pretty upset, Art."

Arthur's features softened. "I am, Alfred."

"Is - is there anything I can do?"

Worry lines increased as Alfred inched just a little closer, blue eyes already offering, giving. Arthur smiled a bit, placing his hand over Alfred's and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"No, Alfred. But, I can assure you that this is merely a trivial matter and that you don't have to worry - I can handle it. I am older than you, after all."

Arthur pulled back, placing his hand back on top of the book that sat on his lap. The other boy still wasn't convinced. Alfred arched an eyebrow, concern still written all over his features.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Alfred. I'm sure."

"Like, super sure?"

"Yes, Alfred. Extremely sure."

Alfred pulled away and bit his lip as he delved into thought. Which proved to be somewhat of a feat, Arthur mused. Seeing as he doesn't really have much going on in there. A chuckle slipped past Arthur's lips, but Alfred was too engrossed to notice. When he turned to Arthur again, though, Arthur was met with a look of determination.

"Super duper sure?"

Exasperated and ever so slightly amused, Arthur chuckled lightly and nodded. "Yes, Alfred. I am sure. Please stop asking."

A/N: Not one of my best, for sure. Kind of lacking, kind of messy, too. :'( Could've turned out better, but I needed to get this out there! x'D
