I. Jen Titus - O’ Death
Then, when he had been seventeen, a girl in Madrid had died.
And her powers had awakened in him.
II. Bryan Adams - You Can’t Take Me
The creature barely had the chance to cry out in pain before
a stake was being slammed into its chest. The vampire’s body
went rigid, and only a moment later dissolved into fine ashes that
fell to the ground before the Hunter’s feet.
III. Black Lab - Keep Myself Awake
Fernando knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight. The
nightmares had become less intense over the last few days,
but now surely they would be back at full force. A fresh wave
of panic rose within him, he felt weak and helpless, already
dreading falling asleep.

“They sit in their headquarters every night instead of going out
there, facing monsters and heart-devouring demons and things that
try to kill you whenever they lay eyes on you! It’s just their job,
they can go home and just stop and I bet they can sleep like
new-born babies at night! I bet they never dream about being
choked to death by the most horrific thing on earth every fucking
night, I bet they never went without sleep more than two nights in
their life, that they were never afraid of closing their eyes!”
V. Neuroticfish - Suffocating Right
Fernando looked like a ghost.
He was so pale even his freckles were barely visible anymore, deep
dark rings around his dulled eyes, his shoulders slumped, but his
features still tense. Daniel couldn’t think of even one single thing to
say, so he tried to keep his expression blank as he unlocked the
gate, never taking his eyes off the young man in front of him. The
door opening in a silent invitation.
VI. Beck And Bat For Lashes - Let’s Get Lost
Fernando couldn’t exactly remember how they had ended up on the
bed, but now there was cool cloth under his back and an incredibly
warm body above him, lips on his own, gentle but insistent and…
hungry. His heart was beating wildly in his chest at how good the
hands moving against his skin felt, fingers softly trailing over his bare
forearms. He shivered slightly at the sensation and as he breathed
in deeply he realized that he was free from the searing kiss and could
only feel hot breath ghosting over his lips.
VII. Vast - Flames
Fernando cried out a breathless moan, his entire body trembling and
clenching around Daniel, the energy leaving him in bright pulses of
colours behind his eyes as he felt how Daniel began to move. For
a short moment he heard the small voice in the back of his mind
screaming, Fuck, what are you doing?!, before he yielded
completely in body and mind, not having enough energy to listen to it.
VIII. Sia - Breathe Me
“You’re just afraid, Fernando, afraid of yourself, of what you might find
if you open your eyes, and that’s what’s keeping you from being honest
with yourself. But this is all just in your head.”
IX. Jann Arden - A Million Miles Away
But it was so damn hard when he still missed the simple feeling of
a heartbeat against his own, calm breath on his skin, soft hair under
his fingers, and when the memory of a smile and a gentle kiss was
following him everywhere he went.

X. James Blunt - Same Mistake
Rationally Fernando knew he went too far this time, but he just
couldn’t stop the words coming from his mouth as he angrily stood
up and closed some distance between them. “You heard me. I bet
it’s like a show you pull off. Get them addicted and then play the love
card just in the right moment. Sorry it didn’t work with me.”
XI. Ryan Adams - Wonderwall
Eventually the dark-haired man raised his hand between them, holding
it out for Fernando to take. Catalina held her breath as the Hunter looked
down at it. Please, please take it…
And Fernando did. As he raised his eyes again his face was open as she
had never seen it before, baring.
If you really still want to, you can have whatever’s left of me.
XII. Boyce Avenue - Will You Be There
“And I’m not going anywhere,” Dan promised gently. “I really think that in
the long run it’ll be better for you. Let’s just try this. Please?”
Fernando hesitated visibly for a few moments before he finally conceded.
“Okay… Watch over me?”
And Dan smiled, cupped Fernando’s face in his right hand and leaned
down to kiss his forehead.
“Always.”
XIII. Imogen Heap - I Can’t Take It In
“I love you,” Dan’s whispered voice broke the silence right next to his
ear, so quiet he might have imagined it.
Fernando closed his eyes, finally ready to sleep.
With the realisation that he’d had it: his perfect day.
XIV. Snow Patrol - What If The Storm Ends
“Please don’t be mad at me,” the dark-haired mumbled before he
could find any though and leaned his forehead against Fernando’s.
“I sometimes feel like I’m losing perspective on… life. Or maybe I
never really had it. I know I must have hurt you, and I’m so sorry.
You’re the most important thing in my life, Fernando, I hope you
know that, and if there was any easier way I’d do anything to keep
you with me. We… we’ll figure this out somehow, just like we
always do…”
XV. City & Color - What Makes A Man
“No, Dan, no!!”
His cry was almost drowned in the rushing torrent of the rain and
the rolling of thunder overhead, but it made no difference either way.
The Warden’s neck broke with a soft crack.
XVI. Sarah McLachlan - Fear
“Right.” Dan’s voice was soft again, raw, and he took a step back.
“Guess we’re back to where we started.” Again something flickered
over his face, but this time Fernando wasn’t sure what, and he had
no time to figure it out before Dan added softly, “Goodbye.”
XVII. Tokio Hotel - Phantomrider
Black spots danced at the edge of his vision and in that moment he
knew, without any doubt, that he was dying.
Hadn’t he always known.
Dazedly he felt his body twitching, desperate for air that wasn’t coming,
tears gathering at the corners of his eyes, and he was so, so exhausted…
Finally, darkness was catching up with him. And everything faded.
XVIII. Radical Face - Welcome Home, Son
“You were what I needed you to be. You always were.”
It was when Dan’s eyes closed and his head sank, and somehow simply
the expression on his face was enough.
Fernando knew.
It took only the blink of an eye, one step and he could do as he had longed
to, wrap the other man up in an embrace, feel his trembling shoulders, the
fingers that instantly clenched in his shirt, and finally be what Dan needed
him to be.
XIX. Matt Nathanson - Little Victories
Without taking his gaze off the vampire lord for even the blink of an eye,
standing tall and poised, Fernando slid the stake back into his sleeve
and reached over his shoulder with both hands, two blades glinting in
the dim light.
For a moment he had to think of Dan, and he had to smile.
XX. Bonus: Yiruma - River Flows In You
The song was beautiful and the soft notes made something in his
chest tighten. The thought was probably ridiculous, but it felt like
the notes Daniel played were just for his ears alone, like he was
something special, something precious and it almost made him
want to hold his breath, as if in this way he could make sure he
stayed in this moment forever.
