Closet Cleaning Day Three

Feb 10, 2010 13:41

Finally getting around to cleaning up my room a bit. I've had stacks and stacks of papers and notebooks in the corner of my closet for years and I'm finally getting around to recycling most of it. I've attempted before, but usually I'll stop midway through a handful, entranced by nostalgia and memory. I think because most of the nostalgia papers are on the floor in front of my closet, the papers in the closet have been easy to go through: giant reams of math problems, Mr. Persia review packets, Spanish/Science notebooks and papers I barely glanced at before tossing them into the recycle pile.

I'm still squirreling, though. I have about twenty other MUCH smaller piles for what I'm thinking of keeping.
- Books that seem actually useful like a full Spanish guide, Trigonometry, and some spelling books. Probably only keeping Spanish
- Review Packets that are short, to the point, and contain all the information (no fill in the blank on my own bs)
- All my essays... which are about two or three plus a few book reports
- Blank papers and notebooks
- Nostalgia like my favorite music, my best doodles (and there are a TON of awful ones), Fletcher's Catcher in the Rye quizzes... I say again, not much nostalgia at all I've been through at least 2000 papers.
- Awards (Best Reader 1991, Communications 2003, Detention Slips 01-04)

It's fairly mediocre. My favorite two things so far are a detailed description of an old dream that I totally still remember and a "Get Well Soon" card from Anna hickey and Andrea Alberto after I got stabbed with a pencil. Cute duck! It's all 6th to 10th grade and god was I boring. So fucking boring. Half of everything that isn't notes is either Magic cards based on Secret of Evermore bad guys or Pokemon HM64 characters would have. I've only found two quotes from other people. Two. "I don't cheat, I 'help'" from Ashley and something from Chris Ludwig. I want to go back in time, punch myself in the face, and say to me, "Put more effort into being friends with people and stop with the shitty Secret of Mana magic cards!"

But I'm still obsessive over the little details of things and still don't interact too well with people. Casey's phone number changed, Sherri never calls back, Valerie convos devolve into drama, don't chat with Kiki anymore...

...I dearly, dearly miss my FRCS peeps.
