Weekend Update

Hello, Friends! Rose here with an update on my exciting (stop laughing) life... Last Thursday went to karaoke at a bar called Crowley's in North Raleigh. It was fun to have my son Joshua and my good friend
kat_romanish with me.  We played some pool and then went to the "big" bar area for the karaoke.  I could be happy singing anywhere at any time, but this was pretty disappointing.  There were very few people there.  The usual types - older man who probably frequents the bar, "everyone knows his name" who sang "New York, New York."  He wasn't bad, really.  Older bleached blonde who had WAY too much to drink and who was humiliating herself and didn't know it.  Hitting on every guy in the bar, dancing sloppy seductive on the dance floor.  She was so drunk she hiked up her skirt in front of everyone to get her panties out of her crack.  I hated for my son to see that, but I guess I can't shelter him forever (he's an adult now).  Kat and Joshua wouldn't sing, so we didn't stay too long.  I just like to sing every once in a while and get my "performance fix" if you will.  We went for ice cream and had a nice finish to the night.

On Friday we went to see Hellboy II - it was great fun and he's just too cool for school, you know?  Lots more fantasy stuff going on in this one.  Went home and ate crock pot roast and watched some TV.

On Saturday I went yard sale-ing.  Got a really nice big basket, some cool middle eastern earrings and some other earrings for
fiberferret that I think will match a necklace she's making.  I then went to Baronial Fighter Practice at Duke Michael's home.  It was SO HOT but I enjoyed watching the fighters (I love manly men!) and making new friends.  Gaelan made goat with some seasonings from a middle eastern cookbook and I enjoyed talking to him while he cooked.  I love people so much and I love to hear their stories, you know?  I also met Sigrum (aka Siegfried) a newcomer to our Barony.  She's a full-time Norse Jewelry merchant and a very pretty lady.   Welcome to WH!  I told her about lj so hopefully she'll be on soon.  I also met Mary (a female fighter - go you!) and Paul from Elvegast, who I enjoyed talking with.  Of course, I always enjoy "my boys" - Angus and Christoff, who always make me laugh.  I had the opportunity to brainstorm some with Billy, Ursula, Their Excellencies Gaston and Rosalind, and others there about recruitment stuff.  I have offered to take over the Baronial Chatelaine position if no one else wants it.  I sometimes hesitate to volunteer because I always worry that someone will think I'm not ready yet, or "aren't you doing enough - give someone else a chance!", etc., etc.  But then I think "what if no one else does it, and you like that sort of thing" so I threw my name in the hat.  Again, I love people, so I enjoy that office very much.  Ursula said her only concern was that I am already a deputy for three other Baronial officers - huh???!!!  I know I'm Deputy Chronicler, but I don't know what else she's talking about.  So I asked her to check for me, so I can be sure I'm doing what I'm supposed to be.  I don't remember volunteering for any other offices, but I do have a severe case of "helium hand."  It was also an honor to meet Duke Michael and his wife, and to officially meet Duke Cuan and
duchesspadr, who were very gracious.  Duke Michael let me borrow one of his fighter tunics from when he was King as a pattern for Angus' and Christoff's figher tunics I'm making.  Of course, his lovely wife, I am told, is a "master seamstress" and it shows.  So now I feel completely inadequate to make them!  But I'm going to try my best.  I told Duke Cuan that I had met him when I heralded the Spring Crown Tourney.  He immediately said, "Oh, I hope I wasn't mean to you!  Sometimes I get caught up in the moment."  Actually it was just the opposite, as I remember him specifically asking me who I was on the field and welcoming me.  I thought that was very gracious of him yesterday!

Today I'm concentrating on laundry and taking care of  my chihuahua who kept me up all night with severe tummy issues - you DON'T want the details....

life, sca
