Fun Weekend Despite My Cold

Apr 27, 2008 12:02

Yesterday was a GREAT day.  I rested in the morning and didn't do the conference because I felt so crappy in the morning.  BUT by about mid-afternoon was feeling so much better, I decided to go to the party for
wizros and
scadiandreas.  Congratulations to two WONDERFUL people who found each other in this crazy world!  (Maybe there's still hope for me?  Sigh...)
pippasparty opened her home to us all and it was just a relaxing, fun time for me.  I so love to talk and get to know people better and that is exactly what I did.  It was interesting and fun to hear
scadiandreas and
middleaston fill me in on some history and talk about their journeys in the SCA.  I didn't realize that
scadiandreas was originally from Hidden Mountain!  I used to know some people there and it was neat how "small" the SCA world really is sometimes and how connected we are even across Baronies and states.  Of course, one of my favorite people (and yes, my Bardic hero) is
wizros and I cherish any time I get to spend with her.  She took a lot of time to explain households and Pennsic and other SCA workings with which I am not as familiar and I look forward to having more conversations with her.  I want to learn!  We are both invited to Sir Axel's Performers' Revel in May and I CAN'T WAIT!!  I always enjoy
ladyhelwynn who looked so pretty last night (I just love your new hair cut.  Wish I had the courage to cut mine!) and also the amazing
silverstah who had the cutest pink converse shoes with sheepies on them!  (Yes, I saw the black sheep, you naughty wench!).  I didn't get to talk to them much, but it's always great to be in the presence of the lovely
splagxna and
galeran.  The chicken wings were amazing!
eogan and
elspeth were there and I love to be around them.  They have asked me to be the Herald-in-Charge for the Midnight at the Oasis event in September!  Yeah!  I'm SO psyched about middle eastern right now!  I made a new friend, Artis from Kapellenberg, who taught me about falconry and was so interesting.  My son Aonghus had asked to go with me to the party (isn't that great?) and I was so pleased that he connected with
pippasparty's son and Artis's two sons who were all close to his age.  He had a great time, too!
mstra_margarita and Brian were there and I always enjoy watching the delightful Marguerite.  I also got to talk to Sir Falcone and his lovely wife Magdalena and that was truly a treat.  We have a lot in common with children similar ages and talked about the trials of parenting.  I also feel a connection since Sir Falcone is in the ministry and he talked a bit about faith trials, which I certainly understand.  I hope to get to know them both better as time goes on.  All in all, a truly fun and entertaining evening!  Now I'm off to String Thing!!

friends, sca
