What Might Have Been
My feelings do not matter. Then why does it hurt so much? He knew he did the right thing. He couldn’t come between them. Then why is it so painful?
Lancelot looked back for one last time, realizing he couldn’t leave like this. At the next moment he was standing next to the sleeping Gwen - he couldn’t leave her without a word. He opened his mouth, but he remained speechless. So, he reached out to sweep a few locks out of her face, however, before he could touch her, she looked up on him, with eyes widened as she realized what was happening.
“No…” she said. “Don’t go.”
“But I can’t…” he started, when she lifted a hand and took his, making him stop talking.
“I’ve made my choice,” she said, not letting go of his hand. Not anymore.
