Well, hasn't it been a while since I've been here. Really nothing much to say right now. This LJ is for one reason; the NHL Playoffs are back and I'm sick to my stomach. The Red Wings finished the season #1 in the New NHL and thus has the top spot in the playoffs. Anyone who can boast their team like me can usually be thrilled to see these playoffs arrive! Not me.
The Wings in the past have had a tendency to not be so good in the opening rounds of the playoffs. This has been true for almost as long as I've been a fan. This year the Edmonton Oilers have given me a headache and stomach ache at the same time, and it's only game 3! It's 1:48 am right now and the Wings are going into a 2nd OT for the 2nd time in 3 games. There was a goal waved off for Detroit. I was pretty excited and called my buddy until I realized that the puck had actually gone underneath the net and not into the net.
My heart has stopped about 7 times during the duration of this game; 3 times in the first OT. If the Wings win? Exhuberation (is that a word? If not, it should be). If they lose? I'd really rather not talk about it. The one truth to all of this is that the NHL has shown the world that people have missed it and that OT playoff hockey is the most exciting action of ANY SPORT!
During regulation time, my buddy Arbo and I were talking about what the Wings needed to do to beat the trap system that the Oilers were playing. Everything I said was repeated a couple of minutes later by the commentators giving the play by play. And these guys are no fools either! Well, 2OT is back on and I'll be back later to tell you who won!
