I'm starting to think BC is slowly killing me.
There are 200 odd forest fires burning there right now and all that smoke is drifting over to Alberta. It's been hazy all week, sometimes so bad the sun turns reddish-orange. I don't normally have breathing issues but the constant smoke is making me feel all kinds of crappy. I can make it until 2 or 3pm and then I just crash. Headaches, tiredness, and just general crankiness. None of which bode well for the people I have to deal with.
Yesterday was an improvement as I fled to the city for the afternoon. 200kms of distance seems to have helped. And just getting out of Edson for a bit. I visited the downtown farmer's market which was wonderbar as always. I spent loads of money of fresh fruits and veggies, most of which were locally grown.
I keep hoping for the day they breed a peach that would actually grow in the province. Til then I'll just have survive on scrumptious blueberries, strawberries & raspberries!! :D
I also got to see a good friend of mine that I haven;t seen in ages. It seems like whenever I was in Calgary, he was elsewhere. He's a country singer/songwriter so he's often off plying his trade. (I know, it's country, but I've known this guy since I was 13 so I have to forgive him...). He was actually performing at the WEM HMV stage as part of some emerging artist thingy put on by RBC. His show was quite good and it was lovely to see him again. One of these days our schedules will click and we'll actually get to sit down for a drink and chat. Some day. Maybe next year.
run away,
