We're All Outsiders

Let me know what you guys think please. I'm really serious about this one. Thanks.

" Kristina Marie, You're going to be late." My mother's voice up the stairs reminding me what I already knew, and was working really hard not to think about, that I was about to begin my senior year of high school. The three previous years had taught me that high school was not something for me to look forward to. Maybe some teens found a solace in it, or found an escape, or possibly even real joy, but for me it was just a bunch of bullshit I was sick of dealing with.
Ten minutes later I decended the stairs in to the kitchen to find my mother reading the morning paper over her coffee, a plate of bacon and eggs set at the seat beside her. "Kris, haven't I told you a thousand times you look so much prettier when you wear the clothes your grandmother and I buy you, those ragged jeans and sweatshirts don't do you any justice." I rolled my eyes like I did every time my mother made those comments to me, I knew very well what her opinion was, but at seventeen the last thing I was going to do was follow it, I was perfectly happy in my jeans and hoody, and that was just the way it was going to be.
I joined my mother at the table to eat the breakfast she thought was so important for me to get through my day successfully. "Are you going to the soccer try outs this afternoon?" My mother had had this question on the tip of her tongue for weeks, last year I had played, just like ever year before it, but I had sworn at the end of the season I would never play again. I don't know why she thought that may have changed. "Mom, you know i'm not, and I'm not really in the mood for a lecture about it, it is what it is, get over it." As I finished my sentence i looked up to see my twin brother entering the kitchen, barely stumbling through his exhaustion. Funny how mom hadn't called his name telling him he w as going to be late.
"Good morning Cristian, how did you sleep?" Cristian slept the same as he always did when his sleep was enduced by massive amounts of alcohol, he and I both knew that, but for my mother's sake he replied with a simple "fine". Cristian joined my mother and myself at the table to enjoy his own brain food breakfast. "So mom, football tryouts are after school today, so I'll be late, and I think they might ask me to be a captain, which means I'll have to stay late." Football was a big deal in our house, at the mention mom dropped the paper, and Cris seemed suddenly wide awake. "That's find Cristian honey, Kristina, you can get a ride home can't you?"
I nodded my head, though I was screaming that I wanted to kill both of them. Ever since I quit sports and started keeping to myself more my mother has basically ignored me, what could possibly compare to a star football star? Cristian looked my way for the first time and pretended to gag when he saw how I was dressed. I rolled my eyes and continued to eat my cereal, but I knew at that moment that the rest of the school year was going to be one bumpy ride.
