claire_wain, I certainly ain't.

I am making
this pattern as part of a costume, and um, well, let me say that it's possibly a variation of the pattern that I'm making, not the actual thing.... Version D (the red one), without the pockets.

I have sewn together the front and side front, both right and left, and tonight will be pottery, than thursday will be sorting out the back and sides. I have the fear though, cos I would quite like it to be something I can wear, not just something I throw away afterwards. Hmmm... It has instructions like "sew a line of long stitches to ease in edge". What do I do with those stitches afterwards? Do I leave them in? Was I supposed to hide them in the seam allowance? Are they supposed to be decorative?

It's not too pouchy, which I guess is good, and I'm going to pin everything together and try it on, to make sure it pulls in in the right places, but still... WAH. This sewing stuff is HARD.

Also not helped by the fact that I am making it in suedette, which, while pretty, is very tough, and hard on the hands and needles. The skirt to match looks ace, and if nurse_liz will help me pin up the edge, I can hem it on sunday night. Weeeee!

It was probably a good thing that Mup had to work ungodly overtime last night so he didn't hear me swearing at the sewing machine, chuntering to myself, and cheering when I sewed even the easiest of seams.

Right! On with work!
