ahem, um, yes, I now have 7 mm knitting needles (wow! These are huge, and easy to use), one big cheap ball of burgundy acrylic yarn, and 3 little balls of Sirdar Foxy. The lady in the shop showed me how to cast on, and my memory started to come back. She reckons that 3 balls of the Foxy, at 20 normal knit stitches across will make a pretty scarf. She also said it's nicer to start with something that will look pretty, and that you can see evolving.
The shop was gorgeous, and had loads of really cheap, really pretty, yarns in bargain bins. Ooooooh, Craft lust is just growing!
