A Grandma Kneavel story

Well, when I was born we lived on Robinson street, not far from Grandma K's house.  My first memories were living 3 doors down from Grandma Monk & Pop (Grandpa Monk) On Leverton Ave. in Highland town.  We lived there til I was 4ish, I know this because I lived at 122 Lyndale Ave. for the 12 years I went to public school.  Anyway back to the story.
My mom and Grandma Monk worked at Montibello Liquors, bottling  whiskey.  My Dad was an apprentice plumber, and Pop worked the second shift at Bethlehem Steel.  In the mornings the women took a bus to work, my dad carried me down the alley , opened Pop's house, carried me upstairs and put me in bed with Pop.  When he and I got up we had chores to do.  Monday dust & vacuum.  Tuesday laundry, Wednesday clean bathroom. Thursday, well I don't remember but he did something everyday including cooking so when Grandma came home she just had to finish cooking.  And on Friday's was our play day.  Sometimes we went to Sam's barber shop and I always got a toy.  I remember a flute the drove my mother crazy.  When it was time for Pop to go to work we would walk to the end of the street and get his car out of the garage.  Then he would drive me to Grandma K's house.  Aunt Beryl was in school at that time and Uncle Ken was in the Navy.  So Pop would drop me off and myDad would pick me up.  Grandma K was a rather big woman with a huge
heart, and a thick Scottish Brogue.  One day she asked me to go up to her room and fetch some fags.  I was maybe 4  and came back down telling her I was sorry but I couldn't find any bags.  LOL  She wanted cigarettes.  When I would wet my pants she never told on me.  She would use rags and make me Shirley Temple curls, that I loved but my mom would wash them out.  I remember when she got her first TV.  It was small.  She loved wrestling, and swore it was real.  The couch was in front the TV and Aunt Berly & I would sit on the stairs behind the couch and watch through the spindels.
So we moved to Overlea, and Uncle Ed and Auntie moved out off Harford Road.  I remember Grandma calling and talking to my Dad saying Uncle Ken was coming home for a 10 day leave.  They discussed this a bit and she invited everyone to dinner on Sunday.  Fine.  They hang up.  2 minutes later the phone rings, Dad answers and it's Grandma again.  She say Guddy (that was his nickname), "How did you get to Eddie's house so fast?"  He said "I drove 150 mph".  She said " You better slow down that's too fast".  Then he told her she had dialed the same number twice.
Another time Dad calls her and disguising his voice says he is from a local radio station and if she can answer a simple question she will win a prize.  Sha falls for it.  The question was "What is the name of the Lone Rangers horse?"  She was so flustered she couldn't remember.  He helped her saying nor gold but _____   finally she said SILVER.  Then he told her she had just won 100 # of horse manure.  She was frantic saying what am I going to do with it my back yard is concrete.  Dad was laughing so hard he fell of the chair literally rolling on the floor laughing.  My mom grabbed the phone and explained that it was Dad messing with her.
Enough for now  more to come
