Willem and I have been working on the 8'wide steps to get down to the tipi. We've been putting the support boards in, then the treads in. The grooves are all there, all we have to do is slide them each in and then support them. But it's not strong in the middle. Tony's had a third verticalish
end board in the center. I don't think that can be done easily now. Not at all! I'm so glad I'm working on the house! I'm going to work on the studio room next. I'm so glad my body is improving!
I"m going to do the stairs and the railings and the studio. Probably take me till Christmas, or longer, but I'm determined!
We worked on it yesterday and again today. It's got all the treads and support boards in place, now I'm starting on the risers. I'm enjoying plugging away at it. I had such a wonderful time making fulcrums out of board end pieces and a long board to use as a lever. That huge staircase just lifted up like butter! Unbelievable!
I had to stop and take rests, made two blenders of smoothie and kept myself going. It was pretty cool. I sat and watched while willem brought wheelbarrow loads of topsoil over to the end of the stairs. It took five loads to build it up until it was as high as the stair side end was level. What success!
