I looked at the pills they were making Mom take three times a day and realized it was Skelaktin! Those are the pills she never would take! Good grief! I said not to give them to her anymore, so she didn't. And Mom didn't fall asleep all day!
We had three games of pick-up sticks! She was so intent on doing a good job, picking up those sticks without moving any other ones! It was great to see her mind in full throttle! Yippee!
When she was already standing up later, we had her go out the front door and sit in her rocking chair! The caregiver had moved it out of the corner where Mom always sat, so she hadn't been out there.
It was so wonderful to sit there with her in the same old places. She could finally see the azaleas all in bloom. "You've just done so much for me," she said to me. It brought tears to my eyes that she remembered all we'd done together over the past years since Daddy died.
I asked if she'd let me bring the wheelchair around and take her down the walkway so she could see the rest of the azaleas in bloom and then go up to her swing at the mailbox. She said okay! So I brought around the transfer chair and took her slowly past her azaleas, then up to the mailbox where she walked around and sat in the swing beside me.
It was amazing to have her back! It's been about a year since she went up there! I'm so glad she did! I told her about the birds in the birdhouses, about all sorts of stuff.
I think the sourwood tree has died! I am not sure what to do about it. I guess I should cut it down, actually. I can do that with my little alligator saw.
After awhile, she got back in the chair and I brought her slowly down the hill to the back door. Rebekah brought her canes around and Mom walked back inside to her chair. She wasn't worn out or anything! She had had a wonderful time.
She also didn't get tired and want to go to bed early. She went to bed at eight, which is about usual.
