This morning I got up early, around 7 or so and got online. That was a nice change. I was going to go for a walk, but instead I worked on updating my journal.
When Esther got up, we had some bacon and eggs together that Dick had made earlier. He's a great cook. I went for a quick walk up the lane and back to make sure I'd be limber. There's a spot in my back where I get a pain, which starts up after a little while of walking. oh well.
Annie got up and we hung out for a few minutes, then I said goodbye and set off. Easter Sunday isn't the best time to travel, especially when I'd be missing General Conference. But it turned out to be a perfect time to travel, at least till about four pm. The interstate was empty! Well, almost.
I stopped for subway and then later to relax in a rest area and tune my violin and play a little bit. I guess I only stopped for about half an hour.
I spent the day driving into spring. It was very nice, but also unsettling, or somewhat disconnecting, like how you feel when you fly somewhere and are dropped into a new climate. Well, this morning the forsythia were in bloom at Esther's along with the daffodils. The red bud trees had closed red buds on them.
As I drove further, the red buds were opening. By afternoon they were in splendor. The bare trees began to have a touch of colour on the bare branches. Later the colour extended beyond the edge of the branches. Trees were distinguished from one another, then were rust, orange and green, lined up beside one another, overlapping slightly.
In Charlotte I discovered wisteria in bloom for the first time. Such an interesting experience to drive into spring, meeting it as it marches north at 15 miles per day.
