My day in town and out

Nov 19, 2014 18:56

I actually left my chair of hibernation and went outside! Yes indeed. Willem had swept the four inches of snow off my car yesterday. I had found my boots and those little ice grippy X things I stretch over my boot soles. I had gotten out my new white camouflage coat my mom had given me last year and hung it by the back door.

I was busy pulling fleece into roving, setting up and sitting in my little tree fort of achievement and uploading videos when it occurred to me that I'd better let Kat know that she could have my appointment today if she wanted it.

Willem had taken Abe into Ottawa so I had the house to myself. So at that moment when I didn't know what time it was, nor whether I would be using the oil change appointment or not, I headed out to the car. It was a lovely sunny day. The snow didn't seem scary anymore. The plow had cleared the road royally.

So I drove over to Kat's, took a photo of their amazing strawbale building and found out that she'd gone away for the day. So I bought snow tires and rims over the phone and found out my apt was at noon.

I stopped by with some treasures for Ladi's baby Desmond. I even got to sit with him on my lap and play with him, or let him play with my keys and the new bang-it toy like all my kids had.

At the appointment, I was still drowning myself in my woes, so bought a bag of cheetoes to wash them down. I really had nothing to be sad about. Except the exorbitant cost of snow tires that I have no idea how we'll pay for. It is almost worth it to stay home and hibernate without the tires. But I got them, so now I can go into town whenever I feel like it or drive to the temple in Toronto or whatever.

I took a shower, went to the hairdresser shop and got my hair all chopped off into a neat little hairstyle.

I thought it was late when I headed back home. But no, it was only almost three!

As I drove home the dark cloud opened up and millions of tiny frost flakes filled the air. So many they looked like fog in the distance.

Willem and Abe were back when I got home. Les had gone to Home Depot for lots of things he needed to finish the house. They were here in the house, but he wasn't. Willem was lighting the fire.

I went up to my loft and sat pulling fleece while I watched Grey's Anatomy. I put the soup on to boil, but burned it over the next while.

I talked on the phone and told Abe to fill the feed bowls for the deer. He didn't. Three deer came and searched around, then went away.

I went down and filled two bowls. There was snow on the new wooden floor inside the door in the downstairs bedroom. I tried to dry the wet spot up with a towel, then left the towel on the floor. Grrrr. People need to take care of my house!!!!!

I went back up to watch and pull and wait. Eventually I moved into our room with Willem where we are in our comfy chairs typing and reading.
