It's Ginny's birthday! My oldest little girl is 35! Wow! Time sure passes by! I phoned her as we are on our way to District Conference. It certainly snuck up on me! I know that the whole world is yellow on her birthday, but it's not all yellow anymore. The yellow has fallen off almost all the trees. Birches and aspen are still yellow. The grass along the roadside is still green as are the fields! These are hay fields, I guess.
In southern Ontario where she was born, it was always very yellow because the grai and corn fields were quite yellow. Most of the leaves have fallen, so brown is the colour. Where the leaves are on the ground, they are reddish and brown at the base of the forests. It's my favourite colour of brown.
Along this stretch of highway the world is red, or ulticoloured.
Ginny has stiven for knowledge all her life. She's always learning. She reads three books a week and takes one workshop online a week. Amazing. I've been noticing learning lately. Noticing if I am learning something new every day. Yesterday I learned that revelation is continuing in the general authorities of the church in the way missionaries are called to serve in various parts of the world.
Our mission president, Pres. Clayton's brother is one of the seven presidents of the seventy and talks to him about the things going on around him, how missionaries are called to certain areas. They are called to the mission presidents, not to the areas. What mission president would be best for this elder? Very interesting. I had not known that.
Continuing to learn something new every day is a blessing. I need to make sure i am always learning. i guess most of my learning comes from observation. i learned yestrday that we have a fungus growing on the base of the trunk of our varigated japanese willow outside the bathroom window. i wondered if they were oyster fungus, which are edible. not that i'm going to eat them, of course.
