I have been doing a lot of things. I puttered around outside this morning, cleaning off the table by the door, looking for the glaze mix ingredients, spraying soap on the roses to get rid of the rose chaffers, filming it all with my go pro hero camera.
I went to the pond with a birdhouse which I nailed to a tree at the base of Hairy Woodpecker Hillside. I also removed the second hammock and put it under the sumacs in place of the first one which tore across the end.
I put the torn one as a pathway into the pond over the muddy area for Willem, on top of the rocks we put in there the other day.
I went for a good swim and made a few laps. I haven't seen so many frogs this summer. I think they are all gone. Perhaps they died in the winter. Perhaps the blue heron ate them all. I only see one leopard frog, three bullfrogs and another I don't know the name of. Perhaps though, all that noise at night made by frogs is the toads who live in the surrounding area and not right in the pond. There are many tadpoles coming along, though. I do enjoy counting them as I swim along the edge of the pond.
The pond is right to the top of the top terrace at the high end of the pond. It's at the second terrace over by the pathway to deadman's run. There is a connection between the pond and the field at the end of the pond. The water is high enough that it covers the end of the pond in one low area between the willow labyrinth and the garden.
I went over to the cedar post factory and harvested rather stiff bark from the poles. I got about a third of a laundry basket. I also went and paid John for a load of cedar pole ends. $5 to fill up my car as he sells them for $20 for a pickup truck full.
It started to thunderstorm while I was filling the car, but I carried on anyway. I stopped at Ankaret's and gave her a post with a teacup on the end of it for her pathway up to her new willow fence she's been weaving. She likes it. she wants to go over and get a lot of poles for paving the pathway. What an interesting idea!
It is raining hard at home. I was going to sit and film it but my ipod is in the car, I believe.
