journey north end of March visit at Mom's

Mar 29, 2013 22:26

I went out and lay in my hammock in the morning before Mom woke up. I got the impression that I should go to the temple for the day. I got up to see about doing that and realized that I should really be heading home.
I prayed about it, got a confirmation and packed up the few things I take back and forth when I travel.

Mom was disappointed, which is unavoidable. She asked about the taxes. So I gathered up the tax materials, phoned the accountant who was open on Good Friday and found I could drop them off.

I paid all of the outstanding bills, put them in the mailbox and said goodbye to my mom. What a wonderful feeling it was to be able to accomplish all of that. I called Lori who would come over early today. She will also be there on Monday when the door installers come to put in a new patio door and to replace the water-damaged floor beneath it.

I phoned Mom when I'd been to the tax office and let her know all I'd done. She was so glad it was done. I headed up to Commerce to take I-85N. I stopped at McDonalds to upload an update, then hit the highway. video

When I got to the South Carolina welcome center, I went in and relaxed on a couch with the map and decided to take a scenic route. I'm glad I did, I'd never gotten to know the mountains of south Carolina before, or perhaps the foothills. Video

I went to a historic park, saw an old building and a little shack with rocking chairs on the porch. I wanted to stop and play my violin there, but there was a family right beside it. What a precious place it was! Video

I stopped again at a gated community called Cliffs and was told where the waterfall was, back about 14miles. he said it was five. pffft. Whitewater falls. I got out and hiked up to the falls on the paved trail, making videos of the falls in the distance along the way. Video

I came to a park and Table Rock park headquarters. I stopped and played my violin on the porch overlooking the lake. I met three Torontonians who were pleased to hear Suanee river and Oh Canada. It was nice to relax there and enjoy myself for a few minutes. Video

I set my gps and it took me north off the Cherokee Foothills Scenic National Highway ( you think they could have added a few more words in that title?), hwy 11, onto 25 which became an interstate nearing Ashville. A very busy one at that. Perhaps it was rush hour.

I wasn't in the mood for lots of traffic, was tired and protein deprived, so I got a room, went swimming, uploaded videos and got in touch with Carla who I'll stop to see.

I went to bed early and was asleep by 10.
