Chicago layover
7pm
Dec. 21, 2012
We got into Chicago airport on time, but we had to wait for another plan that was delayed, to get out of the gate. I wasn’t sure if I had time to get to the plane, but it was half an hour till boarding, not takeoff.
When I checked the board, after finding one pretty far from the gate, I found that my departing plane would be in F, which was two concourses away. I am always glad for moving sidewalks, escalators and the pretty lights, art and decorations that accompany our pathway.
It turns out the plane wasn’t there yet and departure was moved 1.5 hrs further away. That was fine. I had to wait in a gate where the two flights before mine were also delayed. I guess the airport being shut down because of snow yesterday caused the rolling delays.
I played a game of spider solitaire, ate my fill of popcorn, called Mom and Willem to update them and found there was 15” or 30 cm of snow on the ground with snow forecast for the next three days.
So by the time our plane was there, emptied, etc., we boarded and took off at 4:30. S instead of arriving at 5:30, I’ll be there around 7:30. That’s okay. I’m just glad we could land in Chicago from Atlanta, and then that we could take off instead of being in a hotel or the airport overnight.
We are about to land in 25 minutes or something. It’s 0C or 32F on the ground with light precipitation. I guess that’s not freezing rain. I do hope, anyway!
I have been tatting on the flight. I guess I should eat my avocado ham wrap that I got in Chicago airport and dispose of the orange peels which are in my pocket of my coat.
