Lovely stars tonight over the quiet lake

I am on my cot in the little dome tent. It brings me up high, into the center of the top of the tent. My feet stick out from my knees down. I have an emergency blanket, the thick kind, over my legs. At times it is too warm.

I put off going to the washroom, thinking I'd wait till morning, not wanting to navigate to the outhouse in the dark. After awhile, it became aparent that my body was not to be so easily ordered about.

I leaned over the side of my cot, felt around for my skirt and blouse and pulled them on. There was traffic on the highway nearby, large trucks mostly, if not all. I thought yesterday the traffic didn't begin until just after dawn. Perhaps I was just sleeping too soundly to notice, last night.

I scooted down to the foot of my cot, not having clearance to get out of the round hole until I had scooted past it. I pushed the loud, krinkling blanket over to one side and the comforter to the other side, sitting on the end of the cot which felt pretty sturdy.

I found my way over to the outhouse in the complete darkness, just looking up to see the split in the tree trunks to know where the path was. Coming back, I didn't take the steep steps down to our waterfront site, instead I went straight ahead onto the path to the next site, hoping I was doing it right as it was too dark to see my hand or feet, just the sky which illuminated slightly or was blocked out slightly by the tree trunks, showing me where the opening above the pathway must have been.
