10am
I got up and did my ablutions, then we went kayaking. my tailbone was painful. We had the kayaks tied to the shore, which was quite steep. I can't believe how easy it is to kayak for Selene. She just steps in, sits down and puts her other leg and foot in. I can't do that!
We kayaked across black lake to the portage spot. It was kinda mucky there. We pulled the kayaks along the gravel path to the other side. Selene had fun. She let the kayak slide down the hill, which it loved, but then to her dismay, freedom was too sweet for the kayak. He dove off into Sharbot lake at the bottom of the hill.
Selene went to rescue the kayak with my kayak which had obediently heeled, although he had pulled hard to get down the hill behind his mate. The muddy shallow tried to eat her feet, right up to her ankles.
We went for a walk around up on the top of the hill ridge. It was steep with lots of talus rocks on the slope. We walked around the edge of the shore, appreciating the beauty of the water and the reflections against it.
I had to lie down and have a rest after awhile. My tailbone wouldn't let me sit on a rock, but it did let me lie down in some fluffy grass.
Then, in spite of having worn ourselves out walking, we got in our kayaks and paddled along the shore and off to an island. There a fisherman in a boat had caught a foot long bass. it was nice to talk with him. We kayaked around the island, talked with him again and headed back to the portage cove.
I took some photos of Selene for her. I'll email them to her later.
It was nice to return to our campsite, but since we have to strike camp now, it wasn't so nice to return to relax.
