Back to the mainland

Aug 10, 2011 11:00

I heard long tent zippers and realized that people were coming out of tents and returning to them. I went back to sleep, but it wasn't long before I relaized it was light on the other side of the tent walls.

So I got up. I figured I'd pack up my stuff and put it all in the boat so it wouldn't make other people have to help me pack the boat up to go.

I made two hammocks and put one up on the point and another overlooking the boat bay where I could see the pinkish apricot of the sunrise.

I lay in it and read two conference talks.

When I started to hear voices, I went up and joined the others in the kitchen area.

We had blueberry pancakes with hog jowels and bacon. The hog jowels didn't taste good, so the dog got mine!

Afterwards, I finished packing up to go. Annie gave me a canister of seam sealer and a little circular ring of LED lights to hang in the center of the tent for light.

Annie and I went in her boat to the mainland. The sky was glorious, white puffy clouds on a blue background. It was an incredible view!

After speeding along behind us, the kayaks came untied, so we just had them in the boat with us. They certainly had enjoyed water skiing behind the boat, though. They'd never gone that fast before and were very excited, then disappointed to come in the boat and sit with me, stretched out across the boat sides, actually!

A HUGE brown water snake was right behind Cathy and went into the water. I couldn't believe it was a snake, it was soooo big!

Annie helped me tie my kayaks on the roof; we said our goodbyes and I left.
