dreamed I had to get marker covered up on the walls

I dreamed we were in a house. I put up papers with signs in black magic marker on them. Or perhaps I just wrote on the walls in marker. I made a big permanent mess of the walls, anyway.
So I had to fix it all because we were leaving the house. I didn’t have long to paint the problems.
I had also put strips of adhesive along the center of the walls for some daft reason. I tried painting over them but that didn’t work so I had to take them off, which were now covered with paint.
Someone had to take a large table back upstairs, so I pulled the stairs which came away from the wall by a few inches, to give them more room to get upstairs.
That was like the last minute of my dream. The rest has gone the way of all dreams I don’t immediately write down.
Someone was also trying to get away from her husband. She was worried that he'd be in the house. But I don't think it was me, but somehow I must have been the one, who reassured her that it wasn't in his character to do anything bad to her about being in the same room with her.
That had been a theme of the dream I think.
