Bob wrapped a large terry cloth towel around himself after his morning shower. He returned to his bedroom, which had various posters depicting famous medical doctors on the walls. There was Dr. Jonas Salk, the dreamy discoverer of an effective smallpox vaccine. There was Dr. Robert Jarvik, the inventor of the awesome artificial heart, the Jarvik-7 [and the less awesome Jarvik-1 through Jarvik-6 artificial hearts]. There was Dr. Marcus Welby, the fictional cool-cat doctor from television.

Bob picked up his cell phone from the bedside table and plopped himself down on the bed beside his sleeping wife, Kim. He lay on his stomach and crossed his ankles. He dialed his BFF.

"So what are you wearing today?" Bob asked Reid when Reid answered the phone. "Cool! I’ll wear a gray crewneck under my scrubs too!"

Kim groaned in annoyance and drew her pillow over her head in order to drown out the sounds of her husband gabbing with her son’s frenemy. Bob and Reid spent every day together at the hospital. Did they really have to talk on the phone too?

Chris entered his parents’ bedroom. Bob told Reid to wait one second.

"Good morning, Christopher," said Bob. "What’s going on?"

"Hey, dad," greeted Chris. "Do you want to ride into the hospital together this morning?"

"Sure. Hey, you look really good in red," Bob told his son. "You should totally wear a red crewneck today."

Chris gave his father an odd look. "Uh, sure."

After Chris left the room, Bob burst into laughter.

"Chris is going to wear red today instead of gray like us," Bob told Reid over the phone. "He’s going to look like such a dork-head. Do you think we should give him a wedgie today?"
