Dr. Nan!
So, I haven't been on livejournal for a little while which means it's time for an update!
What have I been doing? As you know I graduated my MA degree last summer. Since then I've been looking for a job basically!
This hasn't been easy with the current economical climate. Science is not really the thing the NL government invests in at this moment.
But in the meantime I became a lecturer at the VU University. I teach students statistics and psychometrics. I utterly love to teach students.
Im a pretty chill teacher, they can have a laugh with me as long as they do their work. I however do not like correcting papers!
Currently I need to correct aprox 70 final reports on a personality questionaire ... which is alot of work :)
About 2 weeks ago I got invited to a job interview at the University of Amsterdam for a PhD position at the Neuropsychology department. They're building a database for healthy controls and creating new methods in comparing the clinical population to the healthy population. This sounded very interesting to me and also very practically important. So I came there, send them my MA thesis and the next day got the call I had the job! I had already given up trying for a PhD position since every vacancy got a reply of over 400 applicants ... but, it seems that Dr. Nan will actually happen! This makes me very happy (another step closer in becoming Helen Magnus /nerd).
I start my new job on september first. However before that I'm bussy with all kinds of things. At this moment the INS (International Neuropsychological Society) congress is being helt in Amsterdam. This is 4 days of talks talks talks. I really do like listening to new research methods etc. but the entire day is just too long for me to focuss. Second to that I also have to correct my papers this week. Today is the last day and my boss will today talk about our research project so that's pretty interesting for me.
Other than that I have after the new years moved into the house of my guitarist he has a great flat in which I have a big room with bed sofa TV etc. So very nice. And ... I have a boyfriend :) me and the keyboard player of my band 'have found each other' and we've been dating for about 6 months now. So far things are very good and I'm happy in the current situation.
So that's all I guess, other than this fangirling continues uninterrupted. My new room is still flooded with pictures of my fave unicorns and I'm still rocking out with Alantia (even though Alantia has a new bassplayer)
