Rather than wrack my brain over a singular topic to fill an entry with, I’d rather do mini-topics to fart some words over.
Pedestrians
Recently, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend involving foot users the general public calls “pedestrians”. These unwittingly-suicidal maniacs just keep throwing themselves off curbsides and into the path of my modus operandi vehiculum, clueless to the immense danger my multi-ton chassis poses towards their fleshy, blood-filled meatsac bodies.
I consider myself an excellent driver; aside from the occasional parking ticket, I have never been pulled over, or involved in a car accident that was my fault (I’ve been rear-ended twice, which distinctly lifts the blame off of me), and people that drive with me often refer to my situational awareness as bordering on paranoia. So it can’t be me, right? If I’m going 35 in a 35 zone, and I have to slam on the brakes and my horn because some scene-dressed teenager moron runs across the street, I’m not being a hypocrite here, right?
Doctor Who
Thanks to the lovely Amanda, I have started consuming the David Tennant seasons of Doctor Who. I find myself enthralled, and excited to see the next episode. The humor of the stories, and how everyone seems to be having just flat-out fun, really sells the series. It’s easy to watch, the actors are great (particularly David Tennant, which is evident in how many seasons he has versus the other Doctors), and, as previously mentioned, just plain fun. I’m looking forward to seeing Matt Smith’s tenure as the Doctor come spring, too.
Writing
Even though my previous entry was two weeks ago, just doing that has jumpstarted me into looking at articles and words critically again. It’s nice to have that “mode”, in a sense, back in action. To get better at writing, you have to write! I’ve started a new notebook, with a couple rules so I can keep track of what’s what at a glance, to jot down any ideas that waft into my brain. I have a couple pages filled out, largely notes on other, bigger story ideas, but there are still the usual false-starts and go-nowheres that I always churn out on a daily basis.
I really want to start on something bigger, with the full intention of finishing it. I have a few ideas that have been fleshed out with this intention in mind, but I’m not sure which one to attack. Maybe next time, I’ll spell some of them out.
