recently I've found myself concerned with my apathy. Admittedly, this is a somewhat self-nullifyingly strange thing to be concerned about, but who are you to judge?
I've never really understood the appeal of learning about politics and political issues. I personally would prefer if all the happenings in the world went on totally without my knowledge. Some of you may be thinking, " thats a horrible thing to say!" and you're probably right, but honestly, what do you gain from being politically active and following the new and other such upstanding actions? Nothing that I can see. All that I ever get from learning about current events are a few more marbles in the ulcer/suicide jar.

So whats so wrong with apathy? Right now I have enough civil liberties to suit me. I can go to school and study what I please, the government doesn't really hassle me. True, they do some pretty evil shit no and again, but theres nothing I can do to stop it. Sure I could go to protest (pronounced "riot") I could write letters to my congressman, but that shit won't help. So why put myself out worrying about things that are beyond my control? Seriously, why should I bother?

Usually, I don't bother. I ignore. And for the most part, this suits me just fine. Political scandals come and go, afgani-americans are unjustly detained and then released. cities bombed then forgotten. I do my best to pretend that its not happening and I do a damn good job. Once again, you judge me. But could you tell me why it is that I should cry over dead iraqi children in the rubble of a playground and not over the homeless folks who are freezing to death in a New York winter? Why should I care that a couple hundred people got detained in cuba indefinitely when thousands of people are bleeding their lives away on asphalt of our nation's highways?

I guess its probably a good thing that there are a lot of people who aren't me who, like, care about...stuff. Good for them! Go out and fight my battles for me! defend my rights! I'll have a bowl packed and waiting when you're ready to take a break.

On a lighter note, my new job gives me access to loads of new and exiting toys including, but not limited too, the following:

1. One Barcode scanner gun thing. Huzzah for trigger powered laser devices!
2. 21 bottles of those canned air thing. If you don't know, these are aerosol cans that spray air. They are used for cleaning computer components and entertaining unqualified computer techies. If you turn them over and spray them, they shoot out a super cooled liquid that freezes instantly. They are wonderful.
3. One little bell button thingy like they have in hotels. You know, where you push the button and it dings and some guy comes up and says "how can I help you?" I got one of those, its great fun.
4. Countless things that have buttons and flashing lights.
5.100,000 computers

yes you are all envious. Did I mention that I don't really do that much work here? In fact, I wrote this post from my desk! Ha!

returning to the previous topic, you might think that its not good for me to rely on other people to defend my rights and freedoms and such, but I disagree. Consider all the people you entrust your life to:
1. Everybody who owns a car. Have you every walked along a busy street? a six inch turn of the wheel in any car that passes you and you become a grease spot.
2. Architectural engineers
3. Airplane pilots. Both for planes I fly in and for the ones that fly over head.
4. whoever makes sure that my furnace isn't leaking explosive gas.
5.everybody who walks up behind me without my knowledge
6.etc.
So you see? If I'm entrusting my LIFE to al of these people, then why should it bother me to entrust my freedoms to someone else. They do a pretty good job of getting pissed off about things, they really don't need my help.

Regardless, I'm done with this. byebye!
