Sapierre had both shoulder-scales from eight corpses, each of them nearly as long as his forearm, and partials from two others. He was apparently planning to see if he could carve armour out of them.

How wide are they? *curious*

But Waycross was clear, which meant Ulysse's order of tea could finally go directly down two sets of rivers instead of the awkward portaging route Geoffrey had engineered around Waycross. Belladonna had wandered up with the first of the supply runs to inform him that his crazy mage brother had promptly tripled his order, and wanted to know if he had any of 'that cider, he knows the one' going spare.

bwah. Of course he did.

"Big delivery this time," she told him, but wouldn't explain herself. Just grinned whenever he asked, all long red tongue or pale teeth, depending on her form.

Oh, Belladonna. *snerk* I do love their relationship of mild mutual trolling.

She laughed herself hoarse, had to pad off to the side of the trail to catch her breath, but once she did, she just shook her head at him, grinning again.

That was getting to be really irritating.

Yeah. Like that.

There'd been talk of fitting her with a set of spiked shoes and seeing if she could climb mountains like a goat. He--wasn't prepared to bet against her, but thought it was a bad idea.

Ye gods. oO

He'd been missed, but not needed, and it felt good. Like progress.

<3!

"You're right, I did, and thank you for sharing," he said, then looked up at Hernén, smiling again in a closed-mouth way that Hernén would have sworn looked practiced not to give offense to wolves.

After a second's thought, he realised it was. Donnel kept company with wolves, at least when he wasn't living in the Keep, and even then he tended to have at least one around. He'd never had reason to particularly notice that, before the Sandovals had depth-charged his career options, but now that he did he wondered.

I would love to hear the expanded babble section behind these thoughts.

Not exceptionally wide--suckers climbed vines to get around, so they tended a bit to long and slinky--maybe five or so inches? I think Sapierre's pondering top-of-shoulder or outer-curve-of-forearm gear, once he works out how to cut them. They had to sort of carve around the big scales to get them off the bodies.

Ulysse points out that he did know what cider was being referred to.

I think Belladonna trolls Hernén so much just because his very view of existence occasionally trolls her. She is not so used to a couple-generations-from-mage mageblood's options.

I suspect Loki-horse is one of Thekla's many-times descendants, if only for the 'so. BORED' problemsolving.

I would love to hear the expanded babble section behind these thoughts.

I think I need slightly more context on what you're asking for?

Nice. That's about what I was picturing, but I wanted verification.

I would point out that I was also referencing the tea.

Exactly! They troll each other. It just isn't always intentional from Hernen's end.

Yeah. That...really sounds right.

Hernen knows/knew that Donnel keeps company with wolves. It would be interesting to hear about his perspectives on that, how he'd heard about it, and what his initial reactions were. And now that Hernen is keeping company with wolves himself, how is this changing his perception of his half brother?

Ah. Hernén doesn't have the context for Rosenthal--he's much too young--so he doesn't know how and why Dón started associating with wolves. All he sees is that his half-brother has more-or-less obvious company, and always has. Now that he's associating with wolves himself, he's reeeeally starting to wonder why that started, and what both sides are getting out of it.
