Helllooo!

I haven't been up to much lately other than work etc. I think I'm doing a good job at starving all of those "bad" bacteria in my body, I went to a chocolate training at my coworkers house, where we proceeded to get smashed off fine wine and AMAZING chocolates that we started carrying at Pure

This company first and foremost is about conservation of endangered forests, animals, and helping indigenous people become sustainable rather than being trapped into becoming dependent on aid. They needed a hook to help with fundraising, and really beautiful, artisan chocolate has worked well, we retail the bars at 9.99 which is quite steep, but this is not a bar you would simply much! Quite literally the best chocolate I have ever tasted, this is something you would savor like wine, or really good espresso, it's definitely a gift to give to a foodie. Each bar, plants an indigenous tree, usually it's cacao.

Slightly less on the elegant scale, fun and a lot crazy is this other line we brought in...this guy is also about fair trade, producing bean to bar ethically produced chocolates with a bit of an almost Alice in Wonderland surrealism to them....the guy is all about unconventional. I bought some of these for Harlen's birthday, one of them even has chocolate raspberry nipples on it!
For real!

They look like records or CDs

This one has rose petals and raspberry chocolate nipples. NIPPLES.
Speaking of Harlen it was his big 4-0 on Friday, so yesterday I made him his birthday dinner (it was my day off) we got his mom's glorious beef stew recipe...the stew meat is inside round...the sort of thing you would use for a holiday roast, it was divine...and tender.

And then I made this intense cake, which took hours

This is chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, peanut butter cups chopped up in between each layer and chocolate peanut butter ganache poured on top. It gave me an instant headache after not having much sugar for over a month, but it was perfect and delish, and his face was priceless!
Otherwise not much happening, Harlen and I ventured out to Ikea yesterday for things to keep the kitchen organized. With all these new foods I'm making, I'm getting a lot more stuff in bulk, organic gluten-free flours, coconut sugar, grain sweetened chocolate chips, cacao nibs....I have bags of stuff everywhere, so we got an assortment of shelving and fun glass jars spices and bulk goods, and we are going to have a pantry wall inthe kitchen. Next week I have a great work training coming up at the Vancouver Aquarium! We get free entry, and yummy, healthy eats while we learn about omega 3's. It's going to be a blast!
Sorry that I'm mostly boring, but I hope that most of my lovely LJ friends are doing well. <3
