(no subject)
Oops I haven't posted in a whole bunch of days have I.
Aaaanyway...
hoozilla and I had a cosplay weekend this past weekend, to get a bunch of the work done on our costumes for Akon, which I think we accomplished fairly well! The bulk of what I have left to do is finish our weapons, which is time-consuming but not difficult. The only other semi-difficult job I have to do is to comb out and re-part my wig, which is going to be annoying because the thing is SO freaking long.
We did get some other props finished, though: here's my mask for the masquerade, and here's Hooz's. She designed them and painted her mask; I did mine, as well as the embellishments on hers. Here are our ring boxes! I am very pleased with how well they turned out, especially the little Varia logos on the sides (I feel clever for having figured out how to make that work so well).
I'm taking a May-term class, Government 2302, to try and get some more core credits out of the way before I go to UNT next fall. So that's where I am now, and will be every morning through, like, June 5th or something: government class, Monday to Friday, 9am - 12:15 pm. Oy.
I've been thinking about just not bothering to take Shilo to Akon. It's ended up basically being a closet cosplay, and I know I can do better. It won't be hard to upgrade it to being good, just not in time for Akon - I don't have the money to do it before Afest, probably.
(The fact that theartema has 99% talked me into cosplaying Maeve, from the Dresden Files, for Afest doesn't help. It involves making leather pants and dreadlocking a wig. BUT IT'LL BE SO AWESOME IF I CAN PULL IT OFF...)
Someone else at thecityrpg knows Young Wizards!! (And also, I now know three Jennas in RP-land. What's up with that?) I had an extensive conversation with her yesterday about how she needs to app Nita, haha. Carmela's never had canonmates before so it would be bizarre and totally awesome if she did.
Just on the off chance that anyone else on my flist knows the series: I started a discussion on the comm, youngwizards, yesterday, about how Diane Duane uses religion in the series that's turned out to be terribly interesting.
