I am so exhausted from the week, its amazing. I am so sorry I haven't updated in a while (like anyone reads this, anyway...) but I hope this one holds someone's attention.
Other than Music Theory, Reason and Argument, Subway and Tate St. Coffee, today I had my first recital. I played Sonata by Garland Anderson, Mvmt. I: Adagio and Allegro con brio with a piano accompaniment. I don't really consider it to have been an accompaniment, though. Minjung, my pianist, is absolutely amazing. Kori said it perfectly (to Minjung), "You made her [Amy] sound good." The piano part to the piece was amazing; I really loved it. I can't wait to get a hold of the recording. Everyone, peers and colleagues alike, have told me how great I sounded. It was really flattering and I appreciated it a lot. I was very surprised by Dr. (Susan) Francer's reaction to my performance. She came up to me afterwards, gave me a huge hug, and was, like, "Your tone was so beautiful and big, and your vibrato was so natural; you have no problem with your playing." I was stunned by her words.
Kori, Sam, Becca and Daniel came to see me play. I appreciate the support!!! Kori and I went to the Saxophone Villa for the partay. The food was incredibly scrumptious, and of course the sax-geek talk was plentiful. I spoke with Dr. Stusek for a short time, and I told him what Dr. Francer had said to me, and he said, "During the performance, Dr. Francher leaned over to me and said, 'That woman has talent!'." I am still very flattered.
I am very happy for my first performance of this kind. I have to do two next semester. Totally looking forward to it.
Now I am exhausted. After the sax party, Kori and I went to the mall and then Kori, Sam, Becca and I went to Adam and Eve's (a sex novelty shop) for shits and giggles, and found "1 Night in Paris". Dude, I totally bought it. We watched it. It was interesting to say the least.
So, yes. I need to sleep now. Good night, world.
I am finally happy to be here.
