A quick ode to the things I like

May 14, 2007 15:23

Today the ode is for books and the internet:

Books have always been the inanimate object BFFs. B/c I had books, I got through some pretty rough spots in my childhood, my imagination grew along with powers to dream and think anything could be possible, and I grew more intelligent. As an adult, they keep my brain from becoming stale. I keep learning things, even when I'm not in college (am reading a book about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth and it's fascinating). They've also been a real release valve for me during the difficult times recently. Hooray for books!

Also, I'd like to thank the inter-tubes for existing. Again, I can learn about anything I want. I've met life-long friends and made pen pals. In addition to corresponding with the people I need to, I'm talking to complete strangers. (A new book-buddy who's a rock musician in L.A., an artist in Australia...) How interesting to converse with people and learn about new cultures! Hooray for the internet!

Aside from this, a much needed nowhere-to-go weekend. I think the only excitement was getting delicious sushi and going to church and being savaged cuddled by six year olds. Otherwise, same ol' stuff. The minions need duct-taping through -- They can tell the end of the school year is nigh. Seven more school days and 1.5 teacher workdays and it's all done here. Anyone local that can fix my computer? Ping me! I'm off to get my back put back together...

college, friends, food, faith, lds, books, blessings, minions, music
