People are nifty!
All of you know how much I hate office work and that temping this summer hasn't been anything I look fwd to on a daily basis. But I don't get migraines and other body-distress over it, which makes it a glorious job when comparing to last summer's fiasco "appointement setting" (which is a BS disguise for telemarketing except people seem to hate you more). And honestly, it's gotten better as the other secretaries and I have stopped being suspicous of each other and they've discovered how Mostly Harmless/amusing I am. Plus when I found out they were tinfoiling the college president's office for his return (literally foiling everything from his furniture to his eyeglasses to his framed pictures) in early August, I think I fell a little in love with them all.
Today they came up to my desk and I was suddenly surrounded by benevolent fortysomething women all smiling at me. And they presented me with a card and a vase of pens wrapped up to appear like hot-pink flowers so my minions can't steal them without my noticing. To let me know that while I was only temping here for 6 weeks that they'll miss me. That was quite possibly one of the kinder things that's happened to me lately and I can't describe how much I needed that. I'm stunned, who treats a temp like they did?
