Further adventures of the argyle vest...

So, you know when you're knitting and you're almost done with the motif and then you're like, "When do I start the armholes?" and you measure and it was, like, three inches ago? Yeah.

So, I spent my lunch break ripping out most of last night's work. Luckily, Red Heart sticks to itself pretty well, so I just pulled the needles out of the vest and ripped down to right above the row that I wanted to start at again. Then I went across the piece, pulling each stitch out, one by one, and inserting the needle into the newly exposed lower row.

That part actually wasn't so heart-rending. But untangling all that yarn-ramen and getting it all sorted out took the rest of my lunch break :/ Oh well, I guess it's ready to go the next time I have time to knit!

So, here it is. The back is already done, the front is more than halfway done... then I just need to seam it and add ribbing around the arms and neck and duplicate stitch the contrast lines on. Here are my fears about it: It's for a guy with a 45" chest, and it's going to be about 50" around, I think. This is my big fear, of course. Well, a little bit of positive ease is good on a guy, right? Also, the argyles are off center by two stitches, and it's just... not my best work. But I am hoping that it won't be that obvious from the stage. *fingers crossed*

Then I'm going to remind my friends (and husband! He was RIGHT THERE!) that the next time I say I'm going to knit an argyle vest, they should smack me until I come to my senses. They do turn out nice looking, though. I get more compliments on my argyle vests than anything else. And I was thinking of using a more fair-isle-ish argyle pattern (Like Wendy Knits' cheater argyle socks), maybe on a vest or sweater for me...
