3 days until DragonCon!
And I kind of have a dress to wear on Saturday...
Ok, I definitely have a dress. But it does fall short of what I was hoping for. I'll get the fake venise lace peacock eyes on the bodice, and maybe some half hearted stems, but they didn't send me enough to do the sleeves (the rest are on backorder)... I have a plan for the back feather piece, and the fascinator, at least, is done (no picture, though, as it was still drying, so I didn't want to move it).
The main issue I have is with the sleeve flanges. Now, I had issues with the Butterick pattern. They obviously put the flanges in the wrong place - on the actual sleeve, rather than on the collar side. But I figured it would be easy enough to just move the flange inside. And it looks *great* on the front of the dress... or as great as I'm going to get. But the back of the dress is all wrong! The back is too high to fit the flange, so I can't pin it where it is supposed to go! So, now I have to decide whether I want to pin them to the sleeves, like in the pattern (BUT WRONG!) or find some way (HOW?) to fake it. It's so annoying!
The good news is that I'm done with my Applejack updates (touching up her ears) and mostly done with gender swapping Tree Trunks (I made a terrible visor, a less-terrible but not great mustache, and changed the tail ribbon.) So, figure out the sleeves, the back piece, sew on the lace and style the wig, and I'm done! Plus, do some baking so that we have room snacks, clean the house to the level that I'm willing to come home to, and get the cats ready for their sitters... Three days should be plenty, right? Right??!?
